Review: 2024 International Calligraphy Conference Roman Holiday
I am finally posting a little video I made for Chicago Calligraphy Collective because of their fabulous help in getting me to my very first International Calligraphy Conference. I also want to deeply thank Elissa Barr and the Dancing Letters Scholarship Fund for their generous help, along with my Think Tank.

Review: Nicker Poster Paints
I have used gouache, watercolor, and ink for most of my calligraphy practice over the years. During the pandemic, I was fortunate to take classes with John Stevens. John used Nicker Poster Paints for his Romans class. I had never paid attention to them, and didn’t jump on that bandwagon this this year. I am now a fan. Nicker comes in a wide variety of colors that mix well together. The consistency is creamy and the paints create a nice density of mark. I love using them for writing in Neuland, writing on long pieces of packing kraft paper! If they dry out over time, Nicker’s recovery liquid works beautifully to reconstitute them. I used two colors to do a piece while at the international conference in June of 2024 to wonderful effect. Tatiana deFigueiredo Gebert

Review: Yasutomo Fusion Brushes
I am a beginner at watercolor painting. I am taking my first class, and wanted to have a couple good brushes, instead of the cheapest brushes. The ones recommended to me were the Yasutomo Fusion brushes. They are an affordable synthetic bristle and available on Amazon . The set has five brushes (#1, #2, #4, and #5). I have used these brushes for several projects and have found them to hold water well, and to maintain their sharp points. The brushes release paint easily, and work very well for lifting pigment. They release paint easily with a bit of brush soap. The synthetic bamboo handles are unlikely to crack over time.
These brushes are working well for me, and I hope they will work well for you, too!
